THE 'HIP' WAY OF KNOWING YOUR STATUS

Fortunately HIV is no longer the biggest killer in our country, it has been overtaken by depression, TB and pneumonia. This is because we as a country have taken this deadly disease seriously and took serious measures to prevent it, by "we" i mean doctors, scientists, people who actually care and me of course.

A lot of people are afraid of getting tested especially at the clinics or hospitals. It is a scary thought I know, but it is of paramount importance to get tested. People use a lot of lame excuses like "i'm scared of needles" or " I don't want my blood to be mixed with someone else's." Like give it up, we know those excuses.

A few years ago, doctors introduced a home HIV test and people were relieved. FOR THAT TIME ONLY. I though it was a very good idea, did you?

The home HIV test are expensive though and people are broke, so I have heard. But that does not mean people should not test. If you do not want to buy the home test kit, then go to the clinic. It's easy people.

The WITS reproductive health institute noticed that people do not test for HIV because they are scared of being judged by the nurses or the doctors so the introduced the oral HIV self test. It allows individuals to test themselves at home and luckily it does not require any blood, it's a relieve right? I know.

The oral HIV self test is a great initiative because people will not be scared of being judged anymore and it will give them a sense of privacy. There is really no excuse to not know your status now. 

counseling is free at our public hospitals and clinics, when you find out that you are HIV positive, go there and get the necessary help. I know for sure that you will get the help you need because people love and care about you.

I know I sound like some motivational speaker right now, but i am just trying to give some advice. You will thank me one day.
