                 General elections at Winterveldt

The area of Winterveldt in Pretoria has been underdeveloped for a depressing long time. the residents seem to have lost all hope in the government.

All the residents ask for is help. Toilets, water, sewages, roads and other things. I have visited a lot of the voting stations in Winterveldt and a lot of people did not show up.

The people who voted are old people from old age homes and also those who are just hoping for change.

Talking to a lot of these elderly people made me realize just how bad the area is. They raised a lot of concerns and they are pleading with the winning government to help them with their pleads.

water sanitation, proper roads and flushing toilets are basic needs for everyone. These people have been staying here for a long time.

voting stations were were empty. The youth was nowhere to be found and the elderly were just there in high hopes of possible change.
it was very worrying how empty the places were. "I am voting for change, that's it, just change. I am very old and it is not fair for them to treat us like this." said old lady Francina Themane.

There were sad faces all around and no excitement whatsoever for the elections. "This was supposed to be first vote, but i would rather sleep. I have seen our parents suffer while they voted."

These parties keep promising residents a lot of improvement and change, but nothing is being done.

One thing that raised their eyebrows was the newly opened police station, Dube police station. They have been in need of a police station as crime is very high in the area. Suddenly before the elections, a new station is open.

Hope should be regained for the Winterveldt community. They have put all hope in the government.
Will they deliver?
